Temp & Perm Office Recruitment – Market Commentary January 2015

The first weeks of January 2015 have commenced with an enormous amount of activity with high demand for temporary office staffing. Customer Service, Telemarketing, Relief Reception / Administration / Payroll have all been required with a matter of urgency. Moving towards February, this demand has not abated and we’re optimistic about the near-term outlook. There appears to have been an overall lift in business confidence and willingness to hire.

As was the case during 2014, clients are a lot more flexible with working hours and accommodating child drop off and pick up schedules.

Hourly temp rates are largely stable with no noticeable movement in either direction.

The most requested personal qualities that clients are seeking are a high standard team player with good old fashion work ethics i.e. reliability, dependability, commitment and punctuality.

From a permanent employment perspective, clients are still often looking at ‘try before you buy’ in a number of cases, and in fairness to any temp looking for a permanent role, this also gives them the freedom to ‘try on before they sign on’.
