Temp & Perm Office Recruitment – Market Commentary October 2016

Overall, in the past three months the demand for office staff has maintained the status quo. However, in September we experienced a spike in urgent short term temporary customer service / accounts roles. Clients were prepared to pay our temps top $ in order to fill the immediate need. Interestingly since early October, the demand has returned to the level we had been experiencing throughout the rest of 2016.

Quality candidates are still difficult to find as it appears they are not prepared to move organisations in the current environment unless there is a long term secure position on offer.

Whilst there hasn’t been a lot of change over the past 3 months we do find client requirements to be very last minute and with more urgency .

Again, customer service and accounts payable / receivable are the major requirements within the “temporary with a view to possible permanency” space .

As the year draws quickly to an end, we anticipate a peak in demand for temporary assistance prior to the Christmas break. As many companies will shut down for two to three weeks, we do not envisage many permanent roles will be on offer before February 2017.
